Tech Talks of Woodworking.com has been exploring the woodworking machinery industry in Taiwan. According to the Taiwan Foreign Trade Development Council (TAITRA), Taiwan Woodworking Machinery Corporation has been working closely with North American machinery brands and furniture factories for decades. In his November FDMC article, Taiwanese machinery manufacturers talked about technology and innovation for North America, and editorial director Will Sampson discussed how the country has become a key player in the global woodworking industry. Woodworking Network interviewed four of these companies to gain insight into their technology. The four articles in this series detail Leadermac, Borke, Bravoprodigy (Xin Ren Yang) and OAV.

In this article, Woodworking Network examines OAV. The company manufactures CNC machining centers, edge banding machines and sliding table saws. According to OAV, its inspection procedures meet or exceed the requirements of ISO 9001:2015.

Each product leaving the OAV production facility also complies with 6S and meets UL/CSA/CUS and CE requirements. Therefore, OAV machinery is exported to more than 65 countries and has obtained multiple international certifications.

Woodworking Network had a conversation with Dennis Liu, the general manager of OAV.

Woodworking Network: Buyers in the US market usually require services and customized orders. How do you handle customer service for North American customers?

Dennis Liu: OAV has formed alliances with direct importers and distributors in North America. They not only stock and sell our machines, but also provide services for them. They provide customers with technical support and spare parts to ensure the best operation of our machines. This is especially important for our edge banding machines and panel saws. For more than ten years, we have been cooperating with Cantek America to provide this service to North American customers. We understand the importance of timely support and have compiled a training video and document library to ensure that our dealer partners are fully proficient in repairing our machines

WN: What new technologies do you apply to your machine, and how do you guarantee the functionality and reliability of your machine to North American customers?

Dennis Liu: Like many Taiwanese woodworking machinery brands, OAV has been manufacturing machines for more than 40 years. The goal is to provide the highest possible customer satisfaction. We continue to invest in R&D, quality control and education to ensure that our OAV team members achieve this goal. Smart technology is built into our customized machines. Our edge banding machine now provides a touch screen user interface. In addition to being more user-friendly, they also provide additional diagnostic features that can provide specific warning messages when a problem occurs. This allows for faster diagnosis when errors occur. Customizing products according to customer needs requires the motivation and encouragement behind our new design. OAV's philosophy is to satisfy customers, employees, and investors.

OAV is one of many Taiwanese woodworking machinery companies that has been transforming and adopting automation and smart technology. Learn more about the other three Taiwanese woodworking machinery companies: Borke, Bravoprodigy and Leadermac.
